In some ways, this is a “moment of truth” for the Indianapolis Colts, although they have answered the challenges in the playoffs thus far. The Colts may not have been facing an explosive offense in the wild-card round against Cincinnati, who they held to 254 yards, but they definitely showed something against the Denver Broncos, limiting Peyton Manning and his teammates to 288 yards. This defense has been very good at times, and some of the statistics show it; Indianapolis has yielded just 33% conversions on third-down, and their opponents have had the shortest drives against their stop unit, as the Colts have held them to the lowest average time of possession.

But there are a couple of problems for the Colts here, and there should be no question in the minds of BetAnySports customers that they must solve them if they are to advance. For one thing, New England has dominated them on the ground in the last two meetings, rolling up 480 rushing yards, and doing it with different running backs. This season Jonas Gray had 201 yards in a 42-20 beating right there at Gillette Stadium. In last year’s playoffs, LeGarrette Blount, who will be New England’s primary back today, had 166 yards and four touchdowns, part of six rushing touchdowns overall in the 43-22 victory in which Andrew Luck was intercepted four times.

The interesting thing is that the Patriots had only 14 yards rushing last week. But they didn’t need a more than that to beat Baltimore 35-31, as Bill Belichick apparently outsmarted his counterpart, John Harbaugh, with a series of formations that had Baltimore scratching its collective head about who to cover.

Tom Brady has only covered three of his last 14 playoff games, and that would be a concern for anyone wagering on New England at BetAnySports. But this team hardly gives the ball away; it is astounding when you think about the fact that no member of this team has lost a fumble aside from Brady. And New England is the most efficient offensive team in the league, averaging just 12.5 yards gained per point scored.

Luck has a lot of different people he can throw to, but his game-breaker, TY Hilton, could be blanketed by Darelle Revis this week, and that will affect the Colts’ ability to go downfield. Does that bring the New England pass rush into play here? They have 48 a quarterback sacks (led hy Chandler Jones with eleven), but Luck was protected very well, as he was sacked only 27 times.

Indianapolis must do better in the red zone on defense that it has over the course of the season. They have allowed opponents to score touchdowns 67% of the time from the 20-yard line inward, and we know that New England, with its tight end-oriented offense, can be very dangerous when they getting close. With the fact that they can be Indianapolis through the air or on the ground, this could be a very bad matchup for Chuck Pagano’s team.
