In the Egg Bowl, Mississippi State has quite a bit more at stake that Ole Miss, although for while this season it didn’t look that way. That’s because Ole Miss was right up there challenging for the #1 spot in the country, until suffering three losses, in consecutive fashion, in the SEC. Currently Mississippi State is fourth in the nation, in the Associated Press poll, the coaches’ poll and the Playoff Rankings. Ole Miss is 18th in the AP poll, 19th with the coaches and 19th with the playoff committee.

Obviously the Bulldogs have to win here, and then hope that Auburn can pull an upset over Alabama, if they want to go to the SEC title game. Of course, they may not need to do that in order to be part of the “Final Four,” because all they may have to do is win this contest. But the actions of the playoff committee can’t really be predicted. BetAnySports customers know that they will evaluate all the teams after the conference championship games take place.

College football betting fans noticed that Mississippi State rebounded from their 25-20 loss to Alabama with a 51-0 win over Vanderbilt. They are going after their first 11-win season. And Dak Prescott still considers himself in the Heisman Trophy hunt, as he has accounted for 2714 passing yards and 891 on the ground. He is complemented well by Josh Robinson in the backfield (1084 yards).

Ole Miss simply has to get itself together after suffering a 30-0 shutout loss to Arkansas in their last game. They committed six turnovers, four of them on the part of quarterback Bo Wallace, who also sprained an ankle along the way. Despite their recent slide, Ole Miss is still first in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 13.5 points per game, and they do have a win over the top-ranked team in the country (Alabama). The Rebels committed four turnovers in last year’s encounter, losing to Mississippi State 17-10. The Bulldogs have great balance in the offense (265 passing yards, 247 rushing yards per game), and Mississippi will be missing its top receiver, LaQuon Treadwell (48 receptions). That makes things tougher for Wallace, although the MSU defense is somewhat permeable.
