The Ohio State Buckeyes saw their hopes for an undefeated season go out the window in the Big Ten championship game, and so now the best they can hope for is to be ranked third or fourth in the polls when the season comes to an end. Braxton Miller, who would seem to be an ideal “fit” for Urban Meyer’s spread option system, was touted as a Heisman candidate at the start of the season, but he was slowed a little bit by injuries and fell somewhat short of expectations. In the blood rivalry game against Michigan, they were holding onto a 42-41 lead with time running out, and the Wolverines could have kicked an extra point to send the game into overtime. Instead, coach Brady Hoke decided to go for a two-point conversion, which failed.
