Monday Night Football Preview -- Colts at Giants- Can Manning Do Some Business
NFL bettors witnessed a horrific scene for the Indianapolis Colts’ defense last week, as it was burned for 522 yards and six touchdowns by Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Well, as we saw yesterday, Big Ben didn’t exactly single them out. But Indianapolis knows it’s got some work to do as far as its stop unit is concerned, and they will be encountering a very savvy quarterback in Eli Manning as they line up against the New York Giants in Monday night football betting action that begins at 8:30 PM ET on ESPN.

What was kind of strange about that defensive collapse is the fact that the Colts had put up superior numbers when facing the likes of Joe Flacco and Andy Dalton previous to that. So what does this mean as they face Manning? Well, we are not sure. We can tell you that Manning seems to have adapted to the new offensive scheme, which is a variation of the West Coast attack. But BetAnySports customers should be alerted that he faces some problems coming into this game. First of all, he is missing the every-down running back that he probably needs to operate the system successfully. Rashad Jennings will not be appearing in this game, and football bettors have noticed that as he was missing the last two contests, the Giants have malfunctioned on offense to a certain extent (well, against Philadelphia, to a GREAT extent). Andre Williams, the rookie out of Boston College, is having a rough time of it, and anyone who followed him on the college level knows that he simply doesn’t catch many passes. So that reduces the number of outlets Manning will have on many downs.

And it is critical that the Giants not be quite up in third-and-long situations, because Indianapolis has demonstrated that they know how to stop teams on third down, as evidenced by a very low 31.9% success rate on the part of the opposition. It never helps when you don’t have a guy like Victor Cruz in the lineup, so obviously more is going to be expected out of someone like rookie Odell Beckham, who has just 11 receptions thus far.

BetAnySports NFL Sportsbooks patrons realize that this is a homecoming for a couple of the members of the Indianapolis offense. Hakeem Nicks was a ride receiver with the Giants for many years, and Ahmad Bradshaw would love to show the Giants what they are missing by not having him in the lineup. Bradshaw has been invaluable to the Colts’ cause, as he has averaged almost five yards per carry and is the kind of bruiser Andrew Luck (22 TD’s, 9 INT’s) has not had at his disposal before. One technical note for Monday night football bettors – Indianapolis has covered 13 out of the last 14 games against the football betting odds that have immediately followed a straight-up loss. That’s something to strongly consider.
