NCAA Football Betting -- Nevada May Feast on One-Dimensional San Jose State

The Nevada Wolf Pack could have had a nice signature non-conference win the last time they took the field, but came up just short. They will try to do better, with an extra week of rest, as they take the field against the San Jose State Spartans in NCAA football betting action that begins at 10:30 PM ET at Spartan Stadium.

Nevada beat Southern Utah in its opener, but struggled along the way. Then they engaged in an unexpected defensive battle with high-flying Washington State and prevailed 24-13. Arizona, which is something of an opposite team from Wazzu in that they operate a run-oriented attack out of the spread formation, beat Nevada two weeks ago but had to hold off a late Wolf Pack rally to be able to do it.

San Jose State chalked up a win over FCS entry North Dakota leading off its season, then took it on the chin from top ten squad Auburn (59-13) and Minnesota (24-7) in what were particularly disappointing efforts.

In the NCAA football betting lines posted at BetAnySports, Nevada is the favored squad:

San Jose State Spartans +6.5

Under 54 Points -110

Cody Fajardo operates the Pistol well, like other Nevada QB’s, including Colin Kaepernick, have done in recent years, and he was in the mark against Arizona, with 321 yards through the air and three TD passes. But he needs support from his running backs, as they supplied just 94 yards between them. Yes, it is clear that Brian Polian hasn’t been able to continue the same magic that Hall of Fame coach Chris Ault, the inventor of the Pistol, had, but this may be a better all-around team, considering they are more solid on the defensive side. And NCAA football bettors may come to the conclusion that they may be playing a team here that is very much to their liking. In fact, as BetAnySports NFL Football Betting customers who watched the Spartans’ last game can attest, they didn’t have a handle on an opponent that was literally one-dimensional.

San Jose State gave up 161 rushing yards last week to Chris Streveler, who is Minnesota’s backup quarterback, as Mitch Leidner, the first-team guy, was missing. Let’s put it this way – Minnesota had only one pass completion last week, as it improvised, and SJSU still could only get to within 17 points on the scoreboard. They are going to have a more difficult time than anticipated replacing gunslinging David Fales, as senior Blake Jurich, who threw just 20 passes in three seasons prior to this, has 81 attempts, but four interceptions and five sacks.

Nevada does not have the same problem it did against Arizona, in the respect that they don’t have to worry too much about San Jose State controlling the ball on the ground. Wit their big edge at QB, they could be solid favorites at BetAnySports, which gives its patrons, the chance to put more value into their play with reduced juice! Top
