On the surface, this might seem like a tough matchup for the New York Jets; after all, they blew an 18-point lead last week to the Green Bay Packers, while the Chicago Bears gallantly fought back from being seventeen points down to the San Francisco 49ers. But this is the NFL, where the fortunes for teams tend to change form week to week. On Monday night the Jets play host to the Bears in NFL betting action that is set to begin at 8:30 PM ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
The Bears spotted San Francisco a 17-0 lead, then scored right before the half and took advantage of some mistakes by Colin Kaepernick to score a 28-20 win. Will they get that kind of charity from the Jets? Well, Rex Ryan’s team looked tremendous at the beginning of their trip to Lambeau Field but then wilted, turning a 21-3 lead into a 31-24 loss. There were numerous mental mistakes along the way, including an illegally-called timeout that was partly the error of offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and partly a gaffe by an official.

So what is the challenge for Jay Cutler here? Well, obviously it involves getting the ball out of his hands quick enough to deal with any variety of pass rushes the Jets are going to throw at him, as they try to take advantage of a couple of weaknesses in the Bears’ offensive line.
If Chicago is able to pull it off, the rewards could be many. NFL bettors can’t imagine that with the Jets’ secondary in the state it is, they can cover al the outlets Cutler has at his disposal. Then toss in the considerable talents of Matt Forte catching passes out of the backfield, and the Bears, under the artful direction of Marc Trestman, have the ability to put a lot of pressure on that New York defense – if they can protect.
