The Indianapolis Colts carry with them the bitter memory of last year’s one-sided playoff loss to the New England Patriots. On Sunday night they can get some payback, as these teams get together for NFL betting action that begins at 8:30 PM ET at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

They met in the divisional round of the AFC post-season, and New England came away with a 43-22 victory, which was punctuated with six touchdowns on the ground. That obviously seems highly unusual for a team that generally makes its living through the air. It is most likely that the Patriots are going to have to go the air route in this one, because their backfield has been thinned out. But it seems as if Tom Brady’s short passing game can substitute for ground attack, especially if he can continue to make connections with tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has caught four of his touchdown passes over the last two games. And BetAnySports customers who had written this team off just a month and a half ago must have been shocked by their performance in those contests, as they jumped all over the Chicago Bears with a 51-23 destruction, then took apart the Denver Broncos, who lost by a 43-21 score and didn’t know what hit them.

NFL bettors remember that Andrew Luck threw four interceptions against New England in that playoff game last season. There’s no guarantee he’s not going to make mistakes; in fact, he has thrown nine interceptions this year, and that does not compare favorably to Brady (22 TDs, just three interceptions). But those analyzing the NFL odds for Sunday night have to take into account that Luck is well protected, having been sacked only 14 times this season. And he is on quite a streak, with 300 yards passing in seven consecutive games. The guy who has really made strides for Indianapolis is TY Hilton, who could go over the 1000-yard mark in Sunday night’s game, and who is averaging almost 17 yards a catch. Hilton is probably the guy who will draw the coverage from New England’s shutdown cornerback, Darrelle Revis. But Luck does a pretty good job of spreading the ball around; there are no less than seven different receivers that have at least 200 yards in catches this season.

BetAnySports patrons have to admit that Indianapolis is improved on defense this year. They are holding their opponents to just 30% conversions on third-down. And they have the ground element, especially after the acquisition of Ahmad Bradshaw in the off-season. These guys can play a little smash mouth, so they certainly hope to turn the tables on a New England squad that punched them right in the face of the line of scrimmage when these two last met. Most people expect that this game will be a shootout, and they are probably not wrong, judging from the respective scores these squads have posted lately. The Patriots are a very potent team against the football pointspread when they are the underdog, covering 15 at of their last 20 in that situation.
