The Cowboys and Packers meet for the first time in the playoffs since the legendary Ice Bowl in 1967, and here we have an outstanding team when traveling, as the Cowboys are 8-0 straight-up away from home, going against a Green Bay team that was a veritable machine at home, winning all eight games, scoring 30 or more points in seven of them, and getting an historic performance out of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has chalked up 25 TD passes without an interception at Lambeau Field.

BetAnySports NFL betting customers know that Rodgers’ calf injury is a big concern. Coach Mike McCarthy says he is impressed with his QB’s mobility in the brief practice time he has had, but Rodgers really needed the rest that was afforded with the bye week. Green Bay’s offensive line really seems to have solidified, giving up just nine sacks in the last eight games, but NFL bettors know that some of that is due to Rodgers; ability to extend plays, so they have to be even better as their man is going to be operating out of the pocket. Does Eddie Lacy become a lot more prominent figure here? If the Packers can turn him loose, that will really help. And the former Alabama star has all the capability to do that.

The Green Bay defense has really been coming along, as the Packers have risen from 25th in total defense all the way up to #15 over the season’s second half. And during that time they have yielded just 3.6 yards per rush. Maybe that has some significance, if they can prevent Dallas from developing the necessary balance in their offense. Still, it will be a tall order corralling DeMarco Murray, who led the league with 1845 yards (4.7 ypc). Remember that Tony Romo only had one 300-yard game, so the ground attack is something he greatly depended upon in order to keep the opponent’s pass rush at bay.

The total is something worth looking at. And both of these teams have trended greatly toward the “over.” Green Bay is 7-1 to the over in its eight home games, while Dallas has exceeded the posted figure in its last seven games away from home. Since they average 34.4 ppg on the road, with a sparkling 121.8 QB rating out of Romo, this should not be an environment that they are uncomfortable in. That is, unless the field is a sheet of ice again.
