NFL Sportsbooks - Week 5 Football Betting Preview

The top two teams to win this year’s Super Bowl on BetOnline’s futures odds before the season began were Seattle and Denver and nothing has changed at the close of the first quarter. The Seahawks’ current betting odds to repeat as champions are +450 while the Broncos are a close second at +500.

After that it is anyone guess with upstart teams such as San Diego (+1400) and Arizona (+2500) making a charge up the list with a fast start, while perennial contenders such as New Orleans (+2500) and New England (+1800) tumble down the ranks after suffering a couple of bad losses.

Some of this week’s games may shed a bit more light on the subject as teams gear-up for the start of the second quarter of play. Week 5 of the NFL Sportsbooks season kicks things off with a black and blue matchup in the NFC North this Thursday night between Minnesota and Green Bay. Both teams come in with 2-2 straight-up records and fresh off a strong performance in Week 4. The Packers have been listed as heavy 10-point home favorites with the total set at 47.5. They have covered against the spread in six of their last nine games against the Vikings.

Sunday’s action gets underway with a battle for bragging rights in the state of Texas with Houston on the road against Dallas as a seven-point underdog. BetOnline has set the total for this inter-conference matchup at 46.5. Both teams are off to solid 3-1 starts both SU and ATS, but the Texans are 3-6 ATS in their last nine road games as underdogs and the Cowboys are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games as home favorites so take you pick in this one.

The late games on Sunday feature a couple of other intriguing inter-conference showdowns. First, the 3-0 Cardinals will put their perfect record on the line as eight-point road underdogs against 2-1 Denver. The football betting total has been set at 49. Both teams are coming off a bye and Arizona is 6-2 ATS in its last eight road games following a week off.

The other NFL betting matchup pits Kansas City on the road against San Francisco as a seven-point underdog. The 2-2 Chiefs are coming off a huge 41-14 romp over New England this past Monday night as three-point underdogs at home, while the 49ers survived a scare against Philadelphia last Sunday with a 26-21 win as 5.5-point home favorites to even their record at 2-2. San Francisco is now 0-4 ATS in its last four home games as a favorite. Top
