NFL Week 9 Sportsbook Betting Preview

NFL Week 9 Sportsbook Betting Preview

Week 9 of the NFL regular season signifies the halfway point of the 17-week schedule and while a few of the preseason favorites to win this year’s Super Bowl remain right on track, there are a few other contenders that would not mind a few do-overs after a less than stellar start. BetOnline has released this week’s NFL betting odds for most of the games on this week’s slate as things begin to tighten up a bit for teams battling to stay in the playoff race.

New Orleans’ impressive 44-23 victory over Green Bay this past Sunday night as a two-point home favorite not only cooled the red-hot Packers, it put the Saints right back in the thick of the NFC South title race. This Thursday, 3-4 New Orleans will go back on the road to face 3-4-1 Carolina in a huge division showdown as a two-point favorite with the betting odds for the total set at 48. The Saints have failed to cover in their last seven road games as favorites and the Panthers hold a 9-3 edge against the spread in the last 12 meetings.

The 5-2 Philadelphia Eagles will try and bounce back from a tough 24-20 road loss to Arizona last week as one-point underdogs with a victory in this Sunday’s road trip to Houston to square-off against the 4-4 Texans as one-point favorites. The total line for this contest has been set at 48. The Eagles have won five of their last six games straight-up against a team from the AFC South.

The 5-3 San Diego Chargers are also looking to bounce back from a loss after coming-up way short against Denver last Thursday in a 35-21 loss as 9.5-point road underdogs. This Sunday they will travel to Miami to play the 4-3 Dolphins as 1.5-point road underdogs. BetOnline has set the total for this AFC clash at 44. The Dolphins have come out on top SU in eight of the last 10 meetings and the total has stayed UNDER in the last 11 games between the two.

The biggest game on this week’s slate is a much anticipated showdown between the 6-1 Broncos and the 6-2 New England Patriots in Foxborough in a late Sunday afternoon start. The last time these two AFC powers crossed paths was in last season’s conference championship with Denver winning 26-16 as a 4.5-point home favorite. This time around BetOnline has listed the Broncos as three-point road favorites and the total has been set at 55.

In a head-to-head NFL Sportsbooks matchup between the Broncos’ Peyton Manning and the Patriots’ Tom Brady, the future “Hall of Famer” from New England has the 10-5 SU edge over the future “Hall of Fame” quarterback from Denver.
