The New England Patriots go into this game with a perfect record of 10-0 (5-4-1 ATS), but the injury bug has certainly hit them. It wasn’t bad enough that they had, in recent weeks, lost the services of running back Dion Lewis and wide receiver Julian Edelman. Now they have to go without Danny Amendola, who they were really counting on as the Smurf-like slot guy who could take the place of Edelman.

Amendola suffered a sprained knee last week against Buffalo, and he did not make the trip. Now the question that has to be on the minds of NFL bettors at BetAnySports reduced juice USA Sportsbooks is whether this is going to make it a lot easier for the Broncos to deal with All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski, who was held pretty much in check last week against the Bills, catching only two passes for 37 yards. Will they employ the same strategy against him? If this secondary only has to worry about the presence of two wide receivers, Brandon Lafell and Chris Harper, they can concentrate more of their efforts on dealing with the tight ends in the lineup. Certainly one can expect that the Patriots are going to use a double-tight end set much of the time.

Does any of this phase Tom Brady? We wonder; he just keeps rolling along, with an average of 8.1 yards per attempt and a sizzling ratio of 25 touchdown passes to only four interceptions. When it comes to turning their drives into points, New England is the best team in the league. They just have to turn loose some working parts for this one.

There should be absolutely no question among BetAnySports patrons that this Denver defense is the best they have faced yet in 2015. The Broncos have shutdown corners, including former Patriot Aqib Talib, who might be able to take someone like Lafell right out of the game. Denver is allowing only 3.5 yards per rush and 4.7 yards per play, and if you look at the way the Patriots have been doing lately, they have gone three games in a row without reaching 30 points. That’s significant for the squad, since they were on pace to set a new league scoring record after the first seven games of the year.

So the question for the Broncos is whether Brock Osweiler can continue to hold the fort down in what is now his second start as a professional. He went 20-27 against the Chicago Bears last week, with two touchdown passes. There have been reports that head coach Gary Kubiak is really hoping that he excels to the extent that it would give him an excuse to essentially put Peyton Manning out to pasture. We have a hard time believing that, because we are not sure Denver is going to go very far in the playoffs if they don’t have Manning’s veteran presence, regardless of the fact that he has thrown 17 interceptions to date. Is an “upset” in the air? We don’t know, but we can see an “under” happening.
