Two of the NFL’s worst teams get together in this game, but there are still some interesting storylines surrounding the Sunday encounter between the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears,. which kicks off at 1 PM ET at Soldier Field, which has not necessarily been a tough place for opponents to play since John Fox became the head coach. He 316 yards passing, with three TD’s and two interceptions, and almost brought his team back from a three-TD deficit. If he can make progress, that would be a very encouraging sign.
But the Bears could be starting a period of transition. Fox may not be around next year; the team has lost ten of its 13 home games under him. And there are notable absences on offense, such as wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, tight end Zach Miller and guard Kyle Long – at the very least. Niner coach Chip Kelly, who might be wishing he could go back to Oregon right now (hey, there’s an opening) has to be happy that he has gotten running back Carlos Hyde back into the lineup, because San Francisco has a much more formidable ground game right now.
