Football Betting — It’s a Pivotal Game For the bears and Cowboys on Monday Night

The Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears started out this season expecting a bit more than they have been able to produce. But they still have an opportunity to get into the playoffs. It may be just one of them; it may be both. But a win in the Monday night game would certainly go a long way toward making the post-season a reality for either of them.

ESPN does the television, of course, and the kickoff is slated to take place around 8:40 PM ET.

In the football betting odds that have been placed on this game at BetAnySports, the Bears are the favorites, but only by a point:

Chicago Bears -1
Dallas Cowboys +1

Under 47.5 Points -110

These teams need to play like they are desperate. They just don’t have a lot of margin for error. The Cowboys are coming off a win over Oakland, but they have put themselves in some rough positions because of the fact that they have not gotten a while lot of pressure on opposing passer and have a hard time stopping opposing rushing attacks, allowing 4.8 yards per attempt. NFL bettors might expect that Chicago is going to be able to capitalize on some opportunities, because they are able to put some balance together in their attack.

Alshon Jeffery has been able to bust out for some tremendous games. He had 218 yards earlier in the year, which tied the Bears’ franchise record, and last week he shattered that record with 249 yards against Minnesota. BetAnySports customers and other pro football bettors had been asking themselves whether the Bears were going to be able to develop someone to take the pressure off the estimable Brandon Marshall. Well, they have, and when you add tight end Marcellus Bennett (545 yards) to the mix, the Dallas secondary, which has allowed almost 3000 passing yards a game, will have its work cut out for it. Josh McCown won’t be particularly inviting to Dallas if they are looking to force him into game-changing mistakes, as he has thrown one interception in 184 attempts.

The Bears have been very generous, as they have permitted a rusher to gain at least a hundred yards every game for five straight. Maybe that’s a green light for DeMarco Murray (4.9 ypc). And of course, Tony Romo will be flinging it. He just has to try and strike a little balance of his own. For those people who’ll be testing their football betting abilities in this game, it is worth noting that for all the success he’s had in the month of November, Romo is just 11-15 lifetime in December games.

But the Bears have been sloppy in terms of covering the NFL odds. They have a lousy 2-8-2 record against the football pointspread, while Dallas, a team that is historically overpriced, is a solid 8-4 against the number. Both teams have gone over the total eight times in a dozen games.
