NCAA Football Betting Picks -- USC Wants Huge Revenge Against Arizona State

For the USC Trojans, it was such a bitter memory in losing to the Arizona State Sun Devils last season. And it became even more bitter for the man who was their head coach. On Saturday night they get a chance at revenge, in NCAA football betting action that is set to get underway at 7:30 PM ET at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

When these teams met last year, they combined for over 1100 yards, but it was ASU that came away with the 62-41 victory, as USC simply could not defend. That point total was embarrassing enough for Trojan nation that athletic director Pat Haden met the team at the airport on the flight back from Phoenix and fired coach Lane Kiffin on the spot.

Steve Sarkisian was named to the permanent position in the off-season, and he has brought more offensive efficiency to USC, particularly to Cody Kessler, the team’s quarterback.

In the NCAA college football betting odds that have been established on this game at BetAnySports, the Trojans are favored by double digits:

USC Trojans -13
Arizona State Sun Devils +13

Over 67 Points -110
Under 67 Points -110

ASU is a team with problems at the quarterback spot. Taylor Kelly has been sidelined with a foot injury, and Mike Bercovici (who is a native of Southern California, by the way) came in for his first collegiate start and threw for 488 yards against UCLA. The problem is, ASU had a point right before halftime where it could have gone in for a score and really gathered some momentum. But the young quarterback threw an interception that was returned 95 yards for a touchdown, and it was all downhill from there. Admittedly, many of Bercovici’s yards were part of “garbage time” as UCLA rolled up 580 yards and 62 points in the game.

BetAnySports customers have been looking for some improvement in the USC offense, and there is certainly a world of difference between the play of Cody Kessler right now and the way it was a year ago. Kessler, who was locked into a quarterback battle several games into the 2013 season, as Kiffin believed that was the way to go, has now completed 72% of his passes with 10 touchdowns. He is controlling the football much better under Sarkisian’s tutelage, as he is thrown only one interception. This week some help comes in the rushing game, as Tre Madden will be in action for the first time this season. This ground attack, which only had 20 yards in the earlier loss to Boston College, could really use it.
