NFL Betting — Seattle and New Orleans Battle For Possible Home Field Edge

It is obvious that if either the Seattle Seahawks or the New Orleans Saints have a home field advantage in the playoffs, they are truly going to have an easier time getting to the Super Bowl. On Monday night these teams get together in NFL betting action that is slated to get underway at 8:40 PM ET at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

The Saints are at 9-2 this season and on top of the NFC South, although they are just one game ahead of the Carolina Panthers. The Seahawks are 10-1, which has them solidly on top of the NFC West and owners of the conference’s best record. If they lose to New Orleans, however, the Saints will be in the #1 position because they will be ahead in the tie-breaker. In the NFL betting odds that have been placed on this game at BetAnySports, the Seahawks are the clear favorites:

Seattle Seahawks -6.5 -115
New Orleans Saints +6.5 -105

Over 48.5 Points -110

Under 48.5 Points -110

After having a very rough time against the Jets in a 26-20 defeat at the Meadowlands, the Saints have won three games in a row, beating Dallas, San Francisco and Atlanta.

This game is all about home field advantage…in the playoffs, that is. The Saints will have their work cut out for them, since they will have to get over this hurdle. But if they can somehow do it, they are staring at a home field edge right through the NFC “tournament.” All of this is conjecture on the part of football betting fans at BetAnySports, naturally, because New Orleans has a pair of games against Carolina, which has won eight straight, and they also have another game with Tampa Bay, which they only beat by two points in the season’s second and which went to overtime with Seattle at, yes, CenturyLink Field.

When you think about it, the Saints have played with less firepower when they are on the road. They have, in fact, scored an average of eleven fewer points per game as the visiting team. They’ve scored totals of 16, 26, 27, 20 and 17 points in their away games this season. And Drew Brees has thrown seven TD’s with five interceptions when he’s playing outdoors.

So those numbers lie?

Here are some more numbers – going into this season, they had scored 27 points or more in ten of their previous 17 road games. Would 27 be enough to win this game? Maybe not, but it might be enough to cover the pointspread in the NFL betting odds. Get the best in Monday night football odds and props by opening an account at BetAnySports!
