Pro Football Betting — Broncos Lay a Touchdown to Undefeated Chiefs

WAGER KANSAS CITY CHIEFS SUNDAY

The Kansas City Chiefs are the only unbeaten team left in the National Football League, yet they are perhaps not getting enough respect from the oddsmakers at BetAnySports. They are playing a team they lead by one game in the AFC West, but they aren’t really being discussed seriously yet as a Super Bowl contender. On Sunday night the Chiefs and Denver Broncos meet up in pro football betting action that is slated to get underway at 8:30 PM ET at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. It’s part of the NBC package, as the network got the league to switch starting times with the Packers-Giants game.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs have the lead with a 9-0 record. The Broncos are a game behind them, but the perception is that Denver is the much more formidable and dangerous team. That is, of course, because Peyton Manning is the man in command of things with the Denver offense.

In the pro football betting odds that have been placed on this game at BetAnySports, the Broncos are the favorites, by a little better than a touchdown:

When the Philadelphia Eagles won on Sunday, they became the only opponent of the Kansas City Chiefs with a winning record. Not to take much away form what Kansas City has done, but they have faced some of the least explosive offenses in the NFL en route to their 9-0 mark, and that includes clubs that were starting backup quarterbacks, such as the Bills, Browns, Texans and Titans. Although the Chiefs did pretty well against Tony Romo and the Cowboys in the season’s second week, the perception among many pro football bettors is that the Chiefs will be in for something of a culture shock when the line up opposite Manning.

There is something to be said for that, considering that Manning’s passer rating is 121.0, compared with Alex Smith’s 81.4, and that Manning has 3249 yards and 33 touchdowns, while Smith has 1919 yards and nine TD’s.

Manning, however, has a high ankle sprain, which he’s got to be careful with, and that may shed a new light on this game, considering that Kansas City (the +270 underdog in the NFL money line) comes into the game with 36 sacks. Remember that Denver is playing without Pro Bowl left tackle Ryan Clady, who is out for the year. So if Manning shows some adverse effects of that injury, this game changes.

Pro football bettors at BetAnySports need to know that the Chiefs are the champions of fundamentals in the NFL. They have turned the ball over only six times, and they are the absolute best in terms of establishing field position, making their opponents start just shy of the 22-yard line on average, while beginning their drives at the 33-yard line themselves. Over the course of a game, that tends to have its effect.

As well as the Chiefs have played on defense (and they have permitted less than a point per drive), there is something that sticks out, and that is the five yards per rushing attempt they have allowed. Manning would dearly love to put together some drives where he can mix in some stuff from Knowshon Moreno (521 yards), so as to keep that pass rush away and work some play action. That would give the Broncos a chance to employ a few fundamentals of their own.
