Everybody is wondering when the Seattle Seahawks will “snap out of it” this season, operating on the assumption that they are the same team that has gone to consecutive Super Bowls. Well, maybe they are and maybe they aren’t. When you looked at the situation on paper, it looked like there could be improved offensive capability with the inclusion of All-Pro tight end Jimmy Graham and wide receiver/kick returner Tyler Lockett. And of course, there is the guy in “Beast Mode,” Marshawn Lynch.

But as BetAnySports customers are aware, things are not going according to plan. The Seahawks are 2-4, and the argument can be made that they haven’t even played THAT well. So as they come into Santa Clara and this date with the San Francisco 49ers, they are encountered with a game where they are supposed to win, but that hasn’t always worked out either.

To be fair, they have come across some of the cream of the crop in the NFL, with losses to the Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers. They blew leads in all those games, and the last outing against the Panthers was particularly inexcusable, as they blew a nine-point fourth-quarter lead to a team that many NFL bettors consider to be somewhat challenged offensively.

Whatever short-comings this team has had, they always seem to be able to make up for it with superior defense. And truth be told, they were not all that awesome at this time last year. the numbers on the stop unit are not bad; after all, they have held the opposition to 3.6 yards a carry and 6.9 yards a pass, not to mention just 35% on third down. But what seems to be happening is that when they have a defensive lapse, it is at precisely the wrong time. Let’s face it; when you give up TWO 80-yard drives in a matter of minutes to lose a home game, something is going wrong on the field and in the coaching booth.

This team can’t create a lot of distance between itself and its opponents, and as BetAnySports NFL betting patrons have observed, they are making a lot of mistakes. Russell Wilson usually takes a while to make decision, and he has been sacked 26 times, two of which have resulted in fumbles. One of those was costly, taken back for a touchdown against Detroit in a game the Seahawks should have lost.

This is the NFL’s worst team in the red zone, and perhaps it will be of some future relief that Wilson has started to hook up a little more with Jimmy Graham, who caught eight passes for 140 yards against Carolina. But they have converted only 37% of their third down opportunities, and is it a mistake at this juncture to sit down rookie Thomas Rawls (5.7 ypc) to accommodate Marshawn Lynch, who is running on a bad hamstring?

This has quickly developed into the best soap opera this side of Deflategate, and the answers will continue to reveal themselves.
