Kansas City Chiefs vs. Washington Redskins

WASHINGTON-REDSKINS-VS-MINNESOTA-VIKINGS

This Sunday, The Kansas City Chiefs will play The Washington Redskins in a game that means very different things to the two teams. Each squad is caught in a losing skid, Kansas dropping their last three, and Washington their last four. Of course both teams will be looking to recover, but Kansas will want a win to hold on to a wildcard spot. At this point, Washington is playing purely for pride, having been realistically eliminated from the post season, if not mathematically. The Kansas City Chiefs are currently laying three points on The Redskins. The Over/Under Bettors are seeing the total currently listed at 44.5. Washington Redskins

There have been highlights in the Redskin’s season, which are not reflected in their standings. They boast a strong offense, with rookie Robert Griffin III putting up impressive numbers, threatening with both his passing game and on the scramble. The Chief’s rookie CB Marcus Cooper looked good during the first half of the season, but his performance has been significantly weaker in recent weeks. The Bronco’s Peyton Manning exploited his play last week, and RG3 will be looking to do the same. Whereas The Redskins have been strong on offense and weak on defense, the opposite could be said of The Chiefs.

Defensive and special teams have played outstandingly, while the offensive unit has struggled to do enough to win games. Quarterback Alex Smith has been playing fairly well in recent weeks and has been let down by his receivers dropping passes that should have been caught. If they can find their hands Kansas should be able to put some points on the board against a defense that is ranked near the bottom in the league. Turnovers will play a big part in The Chief’s game. Alex Smith has been great in this department, having reached week 14 with just 6 thrown interceptions. If the defensive backs can start creating the turnovers they were making earlier in the season it could be the difference, keeping the ball from a strong Washington offense. The Redskins really have no chance of being in the playoffs this year, sitting firmly at the bottom of the NFC. But pride can be a motivator, and head coach Mike Shanahan is very likely playing for his job.

Kansas City Chiefs

On paper, The Chiefs should win this match without a problem, but Washington is a talented team that has under-performed this season. The Redskins would love to play spoiler to The Chief’s wildcard hopes, and if they finally find form and their opponents can’t recover their own, they may be able to do it.
