The Seattle Seahawks went through some genuine unpleasantness in the first two games of the season – first having a gut-wrenching overtime loss in St. Louis, and then a defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers, who may yet be the team that stands between them and another trip to the Super Bowl.. But they got rid of some of those demons last week in a 26-0 shutout win over the Chicago Bears.

We say SOME of those demons, because there has to be a limit as to how much satisfaction one can actually get out of beating a team that was without its starting quarterback – going with Jimmy Clausen instead – and missing receiver Alshon Jeffery. In other words, the Bears were helpless, and that was not something lost on BetAnySports customers.

The Detroit Lions don’t really fit into that category, although they had only 290 yards last week against the Denver Broncos. But clearly any team with a guy like Matthew Stafford, who can put up numbers, and a pair of wideouts like Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate (the former Seahawk) is going to be potentially dangerous.

But the Lions have fewer rushing yards than any team in the league; clearly they did not draft running back Ameer Abdullah (82 yards so far) to endure something like that. If Stafford is completely one-dimensional, it is a handicap against this defense.

But speaking of handicaps, there is a very real possibility -some would actually call it a probability – that Marshawn Lynch is going to be unavailable to the Seahawks for this game. He did not start last week, and then when he played he aggravated the situation. Seattle has rookie Thomas Rawls as backup; the University of Michigan product came through nicely, with 104 yards against Chicago.

Those BetAnySports online football betting patrons who were waiting for the Seahawks to get closer to full strength finally saw that happen last week as hard-hitting safety Kam Chancellor ended his holdout and came back. he will help make it difficult enough for the Lions to gain ground, and another factor, as pointed out by he aforementioned Tate, is that Detroit’s opponents seemed to know what was coming as they played defense, to the point where they were actually calling out the Lions’ plays. Naturally it is kind of unusual that a player would say something like that publicly, so you have to wonder what is going on in that locker room.

Just to bring you up to date on how well Seattle does when Russell Wilson is at quarterback, they have compiled a 23-2 straight-up record at CenturyLink Field, so you may want to keep that in mind. Wilson, believe it or not, is actually Seattle’s leading rusher, with 134 yards on 24 carries. He’s nimble, for certain, but the Seahawks don’t want to go through a whole season with his name at the top of their rushing list.

Marshawn, get well soon!
