Perhaps there weren’t that many people who expected the Dallas Cowboys to have a 2-1 record at the moment, but they are they are, right in the thick of things in the NFC East. Dak Prescott has been impressive as a rookie starting quarterback, and he will take his act to the West Coast as the Cowboys take on the San Francisco 49ers in a game that is scheduled to begin at 4:25 PM ET on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. But now for some of the bad news. Wide receiver Dez Bryant only lasted two offensive snaps last Sunday night, but had to leave the game with a knee injury. An MRI later revealed that he has a hairline fracture in his knee, and even though they are hopeful that he can take the field on Sunday, his latest status is “questionable.” Prescott has other outlets he can throw to, including Cole Beasley, who has snared 20 passes thus far, and old reliable tight end Jason Witten (14 receptions, 142 yards).
The 49ers started their schedule strong, shutting out the Los Angeles Rams 28-0, but they have been bounced a couple of times since. Colin Kaepernick, who was obviously a controversial figure, is looming in the background, and he has indicated that he if he gets the call, he will be more than ready. Perhaps the former starter fits in better with Kelly’s concept of offensive football, especially if he can still run with it.
