NFL Lines at USA Sportsbooks - Texans Attempt to Grind it Out Against Eagles

As far as the Houston Texans are concerned, the game plan is pretty constant and pretty simple: run the football, early and often, giving Arian Foster a chance to strut his stuff. Foster has 766 rushing yards on the season, and he could pose some trouble for the Philadelphia Eagles, who visit NRG Stadium in Houston for NFL betting action that begins at 1 PM ET.

Houston has a 4-4 straight-up record, and is 5-3 against the NFL lines. They are still looking for a win over a genuine contender. They seemed to be looking pretty good against both Dallas and Pittsburgh, but wound up falling short. The game with the Steelers was especially hurtful, as they blew a 13-0 lead. As most football bettors are aware, they acquired quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in the off-season as something of a stopgap measure until they figured out what they were going to do at the position of the future. Fitzpatrick has been somewhat adequate, completing 63% and with nine touchdowns but also seven interceptions. His habit of holding onto the football for too long has also resulted in eleven sacks in the last three games.

Speaking of sacks, that’s one thing Houston hopes to do against Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles, but that has been difficult for a lot of teams to do, as foals, who has thrown 299 passes, has been sacked only seven times.

In the NFL lines that have been posted at BetAnySports Asian Sportsbooks in this game, the Eagles are favored on the road:

Philadelphia Eagles -2
Houston Texans +2

Under 47.5 points -110

The flipside for Foles is the fact that he has been relatively error-prone, committing three fumbles and throwing nine interceptions. As we have said before, this is a far cry from his statistics in the 2013 season, when he threw 27 touchdown passes with only two INT’s. And Houston is one of those teams that is pretty good at getting the ball from the other side, with 17 takeaways. No team in the NFL as more than that. Obviously, the key guy there is JJ Watt, who has seven sacks and who is now joined by Jadeveon Clowney, so maybe they can get some pressure on the Eagles’ signal-caller.

Philadelphia’s LeSean McCoy, last year’s league rushing champion, has struggled this season, as BetAnySports customers are well aware. But he has come alive lately, averaging 5.4 yards per carry over his last two games, and much of that can be attributed to more stability on the offensive line. And he is going to be joined by Darren Sproles, who suffered a knee injury that left him out of last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles could have used his contributions, as they lost a 24-20 decision. But analysts of the NFL lines know full well what Sproles is capable of doing, not only running the ball from scrimmage (he has averaged 6.6 yards per carry), but also catching the ball out of the backfield. You’ll be a great help to his quarterback, who will need it.
