Pro Football Odds – Seahawks Lay Huge Number to Rams on Monday Night

The Seattle Seahawks are without question one of the NFL’s best teams. On Monday night they will lay a very big number in the pro football odds to a division rival that is dealing with injury issues that may have rendered it helpless. But that will be up to the effort of the St. Louis Rams, who invade Century Link Field for the NFC West encounter that is slated to take place at 8:30 PM ET on ESPN.

The Seahawks are 6-1 and perched atop the NFC West. The Rams are at 3-4 and have an uphill climb if they want to get into playoff contention.

In the NFL pro football odds that have been posted on this contest at BetAnySports, the Seahawks are laying a lot of points:

Sam Bradford blew his ACL and is not available for the Rams, for the rest of the season. They did not reach out and look for immediate help for the quarterback situation; instead they are going with backup Kellen Clemens, who most people from his days as a New York Jet. Clemens was originally a second-round draft choice with out of Oregon, and he got the opportunity to play regularly for them in 2007, completing 130 of 250 passes. Clemens threw ten interceptions that year and the Jets were not satisfied, so the next season they drafted Mark Sanchez and handed him the job. Clemens went to the Rams (the +515 underdog in this game at BetAnySports) in 2011 and started a couple of games when Bradford got injured. Overall, he has completed slightly less than 52% of his passes over his career.

He has also been sacked almost 11% of the time he has gone back to pass, and that is something that has to have the Rams’ staff a little nervous. He’s the type of guy who would seem to need a lot of offensive support, and the Rams don’t seem to have enough. They are relying on a rookie running back (Zac Stacy) from whom they can only expect marginal benefit, especially against a Seattle front that has allowed just 3.7 yards an attempt. And there is no dynamic receiver on the roster that really makes the opposing defensive coordinator tremble. Tavon Austin was drafted in the first round out of West Virginia and has been anything but a big-play threat; in fact, he has averaged less than seven yards a catch.

The Seahawks, who are -730 favorites to win the game straight-up according to the pro football odds at BetAnySports, have the rushing attack to control this game. Marshawn Lynch has 578 yards, and he has had a few extra days of rest because the ‘Hawks played a Thursday night game last time out. Russell Wilson has been sacked twenty times, but he’s also run for 323 yards, and really, the only bummer here is that he won’t be able to throw to Percy Harvin for at least another week. Harvin, who has just started practicing again (had hip surgery in the off-season) is being held out.
