Football Betting Preview: St. Louis Rams at Seattle Seahawks

Pointspread: Seahawks -11.5
Total: 40 points

Way back at the beginning of the season, the St. Louis Rams have a lot of hope to be a contender in the NFC West, and that hope was bolstered by a victory over the Seattle Seahawks, a thriller which came in overtime. But things have changed drastically; the Rams have gone through a quarterback change and the Seahawks have gone through their annual transformation. Right now Seattle is the team no one really wants to play against, and they will go after their 10th win of the season at home in this payback matchup that begins at 4:25 PM ET at Century Link Field. Remember that BetAnySports customers get the chance to challenge the football betting odds in real-time when they take advantage of the state-of-the-art software that is available through Live Betting Extra.

In that first game, the Rams had six sacks of Russell Wilson, and that is not so unusual, inasmuch as Wilson has been dumped 40 times this season. But at the moment, he is about as hot as any quarterback in the league, with 19 touchdown passes without an interception over his last five games. Not coincidentally, Seattle has won all five of those games, and has in fact averaged 35 points over its last six.

The Rams will be without Robert Quinn, one of their top pass rushers, who is out with a back injury. The Seahawks continue to improvise in the backfield; Marshawn Lynch is out with his abdominal strain, and Thomas Rawls, who averaged 5.6 yards per carry, is out for the rest of the season. Christine Michael, who was re-acquired after being cut by the Dallas Cowboys, had 84 yards last week.

Case Keenum gets another go at quarterback for St. Louis, and he has won two out of his three starts this season. His stats aren’t all that horrible, but it will be a challenge for him to get the ball down the field to somebody like Kenny Britt, who has averaged 18.4 yards per catch. Todd Gurley, the rookie running back, is currently at 1023 yards, but as BetAnySports patrons are aware, defenses can stack the box to combat him, and the Rams have converted only 25% of their third-down chances.

The Seahawks lost Jimmy Graham, the All-Pro tight end acquired from New Orleans, so there is been more of an emphasis in blocking out of that position. Besides, the wide receivers are on fire right now, particularly Doug Baldwin, was to caught 10 touchdown passes in the last four games.

Keep in mind that Seattle had a big yardage advantage (463-275) the first time around, so even though the Rams now have Gurley in the lineup, which they did not have the first time they face the Seahawks, it is not likely that such a deficit is going to keep them within earshot.
